Church of the Week

SBA Church of the Week for Dec. 31.  Balgonie Baptist.
Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers
As 2023 draws to a close and we stand on the threshold of a new year, we cannot know what is ahead but we can know God will be there before us and will guide us with His eye; and His perspective is the one we need to see. We are truly grateful at how God has sustained us this past year. We have seen growth in people’s lives and increase in our children’s ministry and youth. God has truly been good to us and we expect good things from Him in 2024.

SBA Church of the Week for Dec. 24.  Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.
Pastor Jerry and Shirley Richards

As the Church on the Corner of Ave P North, and 33rd Street West in Saskatoon, we have enjoyed miraculous growth, both numerically and spiritually. God is good, and all of the praise and glory belong to Him. We have also, during this time had to say au revoir to two dear brothers in the faith who have gone on before us. So please pray with us for God’s healing balm to bless and rest on the families who have lost loved ones. This evening we will be celebrating with a candlelight service. Please pray for God to give us maximum impact. Greet all of the Saints for us and have a blessed Christmas.

SBA Church of the Week for Dec. 17.  Calvary Baptist, Regina.

JOY! Praise God for His gift of His Son, our Saviour Jesus! We continue to see God’s blessings poured out on our congregation as we gather and do life together. We have been receiving missional training, seeking to deepen our relationship with Christ both personally and corporately, and are focused on connecting with Christ first, and then our church family and community next.

SBA Church of the week, Sept. 17: Balgonie Baptist Church.                Pastor Shawn Cavers

We had a very successful VBS attended by about 50 kids. We are encouraged to see that many of our “graduates” from previous years come back to volunteer in drama and assisting the teachers. August 27, we had some fellows from Teen Challenge. It was a real highlight as one was a local man from Regina and so we had 25 or more visitors that morning. They shared powerful testimonies of God’s ability to deliver people from destructive addictions and restore what Satan has stolen from them. We look forward to our fall “Kick Off Sunday” September 24. Please pray for our visitors to have receptive hearts and that God would come in His tangible presence to draw people to Himself.

SBA Ministry of the week, Sept. 10: Good Spirit Bible Camp.
Executive Director: Luke Prybylski
As we charge into the fall, we are encouraged by all that God is continually doing! We had another year of growth with summer camp numbers approaching 500 kids but most importantly the Gospel was shared daily. Praise God for the many new Christians and faith rededications as well. While there’s so much to be thankful for another great moment was our last week of camp, we were supposed to baptize 3 people and we ended up baptizing 13!! God is good and He is moving!

SBA Church of the week of September 3: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon           Pastor Jerry and Shirley Richards.

Please pray that these experiences would become milestones in lives that are devoted to serving God.

SBA Church of the week, Jan. 29: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.

We are very thankful for the Lord’s work in our church. In recent months we have seen some former members return, a couple of new families coming, and we now have the highest consistent number of children in our services that we have had for many years. There are more than seven non-Western countries of origin represented in our church. The change over the last year has been difficult to absorb for some, and we are grieving some of the families who still have not returned since our previous pastors departed. We are still looking for a new permanent pastor. However, we are seeing some real signs of health and are thankful for the ways that God has blessed our church.

We have a new choir ministry that launched before Christmas, and a men’s group beginning to meet in the New Year. We continue to see God answering prayer in tangible ways and give him thanks and praise for that. Please continue to pray for our church as we keep doing the work of preparing to transition toward a permanent Lead Pastor.

Things are off to a great start for the Fall. We have hired a new interim pastor, Sean Rice, and are busy starting up all of our weekly and monthly programs. We have also been blessed to see a few new and returning families in our services over the last few weeks. We are currently in the middle of a sermon series on Titus where we are learning about God’s Blueprint for a Healthy Church. Please be in prayer for us as we discern the path forward for our church and seek to be faithful stewards of this building that God has given us in a busy area of Saskatoon.

Pastor Doug joined us on September 1 to serve as Transitional Pastor for a one-year term as we work toward hiring a permanent full-time Pastor. There is an excitement growing as we continue to see God at work in us and through us both in Walsh Acres and the whole of NW Regina, yet we know that there is so much more to do! We are excited about the strong children’s ministry, music ministry, and overall church leadership that God has put in place. We are focused on not simply going about the motions of “doing church”, but vibrantly gathering together as the family of God as we worship together in spirit and in truth. We have so many dreams and plans for the future, and we would ask that you pray for us as we seek His vision first.

SBA Church of the week, August 1: Balgonie Baptist.

We are enjoying the return to a semblance of normal comparable to the days before the pandemic restrictions. We had our best (in person) attendance in the past 18 months.  We have taken on the sponsorship of a Syrian Refugee family and are about half way to reaching the needed $26000 to supply their expenses for the first year in Canada. Most of their family is already here in Canada and they are very grateful that a Christian church would be willing to help reunite their whole family where they will have a future in peace. Thank you for praying for this endeavor.

The last month has been a significant challenge for us at Southey. Sadly, our Deacon, a wonderful man of God, passed suddenly. Even in grief, we rejoice knowing he is with our Saviour. Simultaneously, our pastor was in isolation due to COVID exposure. Praise God, all affected are well now. Despite these challenges, we rejoice in our God and know that He carries us through. Pray for God’s leading as we press on.

Pray for us that we will be able to use the upcoming changes to minister into our community more.

Greetings from Ebenezer Baptist Church. We are thankful that we are still able to have worship services on Sunday mornings. Sunday morning services are now available through live-streaming. Our men and ladies are meeting regularly for Bible studies.  Pray for wisdom and discernment on how to reach people more effectively with the good news of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in our community and surrounding areas. Pray also for the church board in decision making.

SBA Church of the week, Apr. 18: Balgonie Baptist.                                                                                            Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers.                                                                              We have been in prayer these past few weeks for our “Finding The Hope” outreach. We authorized Every Home For Christ to cover our community by putting a Gospel message and church information into 1100 mail boxes in five surrounding communities. Last Sunday we had three new people join for our online service. We look for more results in the weeks to come.  At our last annual meeting we decided to sponsor a refugee family from Syria. They are presently residing in Lebanon, along with millions of other Syrian refugees who have fled there since the civil war. Please pray for their expedited immigration to Canada.

SBA Ministry of the week, Apr. 11: Carry-The-Kettle Ministries.            Grant and Nettie Pattimore
Praise the Lord for spring and new beginnings. Pray for the people of Carry The Kettle, they are locked down and only they are allowed onto the reserve. There is a lot of fear. Pray for the posters, to watch Tribal Trails, that were put up by a resident of CTK, that people will take note of it and will watch Tribal Trails. Pray for me(Grant) as I answer the helpline twice a month. We are trying to get the program aired on the Native run FM station (95.3 Creek FM). Pray that that will happen.

We are grateful that God has called us to serve our community at such a time as this.

SBA Church of the week, Dec. 27: Balgonie Baptist.                       Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers
We are grateful to God that we have not missed a Sunday service this year in spite of all the pandemic precautions. There were as few as eight of us present but we have been able to continue online and reach out to our community digitally. In October we saw three follow the Lord in water baptism and added three new members. Having been installed as permanent pastor, I am looking forward to God moving in our midst and am optimistic for the future.

Greetings, like every other church we have been settling into new routines for COVID19. While there are some serious differences in the service, we are able to worship the Lord well. Pray that this will not be interrupted again. God made us for community. One of the lessons we are learning today is that virtual community is a pale shadow of an incarnate community. With our size and a little planning, our services have been running since the end of June. We are also maintaining an online presence as well. Pray for wisdom as we look to improve our discipleship. Pray for Pastor Rick as well as he does the Legion service on Remembrance day.

SBA Ministry of the week, Sept. 13: Good Spirit Bible Camp.
Executive Director: Luke Prybylski.
What a summer it was, praise be to God! We had over 200 unique kids come to day camps this summer and over 500 registrants overall with returnees. It was such a fun experience with many challenges but so much more blessings. Thanks to everyone who prayed and were involved it means so much to everyone here. God was great again this year and He will always remain undefeated.

SBA Church of the week, Sept. 6: Balgonie Baptist.                         Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers
We are grateful to those who put the time and effort into our Vacation Bible School again this year. We were able to physically distance and meet in cluster groups and still effectively teach the word of God. We believe lives were eternally changed.  Our renovation are progressing with the exterior of the church finished and the interior just about there. We will have a dedication (lighting) service September 13.  Even though summer is over there is excitement about beginning our all programs again.

SBA Church of the week, Aug. 30: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.                        Pastor Adam and Anita Wiebe, Pastor Brayden and Angel Martens
Praise God for His continued faithfulness and guidance during such strange times. So far, we have felt God direct us to keep our services online; however we have had several youth and men’s ministry meetings in the last few months. We are also encouraging our church families to invite others over to their houses to join together for church in this time when restrictions make gathering in the church building for services difficult. We appreciate prayers for God’s directions in all these matters.

SBA Church of the week, Aug. 23: Carry-The-Kettle Ministries                              Grant and Nettie Pattimore
Things are moving very slowly on the reserve.  There is much fear there. They still have the barricade up and they keep track of who comes onto the reserve.  They plan to reopen the school on Sept. 8th, with split classes, meaning one group in the morning, the other group in the afternoon.  Pray that we would be able to have some spiritual conversations with people, especially those who are believers, and assure them that we trust in the Lord, even in this pandemic.  Pray that God’s will be done, in how we can minister to the boys and girls this fall.  Thank you for your prayers.

SBA Church of the week for August 16: Calvary Baptist, Regina.                           Pastor Luke and Sara Miller, Dalen Applegate – Student Ministries Director.  Keira Applegate – Communion and Productions Coordinator, Zach Bachmann – Tech Director, Katy Turgeon – Music Director
It has been a busy season as we have brought on new staff as we navigate the COVID era.  We have been blessed with a great group of interns this year as we have now opened weekly programs while still meeting online on Sundays.  Pray for Dalen and Keira Applegate as they start student ministries.  Pray for us as we look to the next season in Calvary’s life as we anticipate Pastor Luke’s move to California.  Pray for our interns as they look to develop their ministries and gifts

SBA Church of the week for August 2: Southey Baptist.                                   Pastor James and Crystal Graham
Like everyone else, the past months have been a challenge for us. At the same time, we have seen great opportunity to connect and serve a much larger faith community via our Livestream ministry. We have also been encouraged to see folks connecting regularly through online Discipleship Meetings and Share’n’Prayer video calls. Please pray for those who have been isolated at home during this time – that we would continue to connect and be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus to them.

SBA Church of the week for July 26:   GOOD SPIRIT BIBLE CAMP                                      Executive Director:  Luke Prybylski

All things considered God has again blessed camp greatly this summer. We are currently in the middle of running day camps and so far they have been going fabulously, especially considering we didn’t know if we’d be able to do any program this summer. Last but not least we have been gifted incredible staff and volunteers who are making this summer even better.

SBA Church of the week for July 19: Balcarres Baptist.
Greetings from Balcarres Baptist Church. We are living in interesting and sometimes stressful times, obvious, I am sure to all! This congregation is quite small and many of our members are elderly. Changing life situations, age and poor health are beginning to erode our already lows numbers. We do thank God for our sufficient finances and the great pulpit supply He has blessed us with. Please make our concerning situation part of your prayers! May God bless you all. Doug Stobbs, moderator.

SBA Church of the week for July 12: Nokomis Baptist.                                              Pastor Rick and Lynn Shott

It is a new day. This week will be our third Sunday worshiping together. There are still some members concerned about returning, so we are posting the service online as well. We have set out a plan to follow provincial guidelines. Generally, it is going smoothly. There are always issues to work out and these seem to be minor. Pray for us as we continue to meet and supplement our ministry on youtube. Pray that we are able to reach out in new ways during this difficult time.

SBA Church of the week for July 5: Esterhazy Baptist.                                              Pastor Robert and Karin Moss
We have started a web page (www.esterhazybaptistchurch.org) and are using the mail, email, podcasts and elder care groups to keep in touch as a congregation.  Our current hope, during these changing times, is to restart Sunday services in the fall if it can be done safely.  Pray that with all the changes we will still remain students of what God would have us learn and do through this time.

SBA Church of the week for June 28: Raymore Baptist.                                       Rev. Doug and Jocelyn Armbruster
We may be physically separated, but we are one in the Spirit! We have been holding LiveStream services through Facebook Live (www.facebook.com/raymorebaptist/live) and have been focusing on a deeper connection with Christ, our church family, and our community. Please continue to pray for us, as we faithfully respond to this call!

Last Sunday we celebrated our eight High School grads. Pray that they would look to the Lord to guide their future plans. We continue our on-line services and pray that God will touch many lives through these services. Pray for our leadership team as they look to safe ways of returning to in-person services. Pray for our people who have lost jobs and suffered financial and other hardships due to COVID-19. Pray that our faith would be strong and even increase during this challenging time. Thank you for your prayers.

SBA Ministry of the week for June 14:  SBA Leadership Team.
When we made the decision to cancel our SBA Gathering at the beginning of April, few of us would have guessed that we would still be under restrictions more than two months later.  We are glad to hear the reports from SBA churches continuing to minister though we cannot gather.  Please join us in praying that our churches would learn and grow through this time.

SBA Church of the Week for June 7: Springside Baptist.                                               Pastor Richard and  Valerie Kauenhofen, Pastor Mike and Marcie Anderson

SBA Church of the Week for May 24:  Ebenezer Baptist.
Pastor Don and Diane Timmons

We are so excited to have Pastor Don and Diane Timmons on board as our pastor. It has been an unconventional introduction to ministry and a new community. They are settling in as best they can.  Pastor Don blesses us with Sunday morning messages via Facebook.  Our Ladies Bible Study is still going via the internet. The Youth group is meeting via Zoom.  We are continuing to pray for God’s will over our congregation, our province our country and our world.

SBA Church of the Week for May 17:  Balgonie Baptist.
Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers.

COVID-19 has been a blessing in that we are reaching more people online!  We are studying mercy and sacrifice in Romans this month.  Although the children’s programs were cancelled, we are planning for VBS and looking at different options for it.  With only a few workers on site at a time, even our exterior building project is proceeding.  Please pray for the Lord’s guidance and that we will always be ready to give hope in our community.

SBA Church of the Week for May 10:  Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.                                 Pastor Adam and Anita Wiebe

Blessings in the Lord from Bay Park Baptist Church! We are adapting to the unique circumstances by streaming our services through our Facebook page, and praise God that He is reaching more people than would have physically fit into our building! God works in mysterious ways! However, there are still significant challenges during this time, particularly for those who have experienced loss and must grieve differently. Pray for several families with newborns who must stay in isolation as well. While we are thankful for online pictures, we would much rather be with these families during these times in their lives!

SBA Church of the Week for May 3:  Calvary Baptist, Regina.                                          Pastor Luke Miller, Sara, Ari and Levy, Keegan McKim – Youth Director

Pray for us as we continue our online services. We have used this opportunity to interview missionaries from around the world and gain a global perspective for what God is doing during COVID-19.  Moving online has given us the chance to share the Gospel with a much broader audience as well as try some exciting new things. Pray for continued wisdom during this time.

SBA Church of the Week for April 26:  Melville Baptist.
Pastor Jonathan and Katharina Pettinger

Church is not cancelled! We at Melville Baptist Church are trying to love each other and our world through regular phone calls, texts and emails.  Our online service provides a shared point of contact and a treasured opportunity to see faces of loved ones. Like all of you, we look forward to being the church gathered again– hopefully soon!

SBA Church of the week for April 19: Southey Baptist.                                         Pastor James and Crystal Graham

April 19 was slated to be the installation service celebration for our new pastoral couple, James and Crystal Graham. To say that life has thrown us a curve ball would be a global understatement. Pray for Pastor James and Crystal as they seek to make connection and build community as our new Pastoral couple in a truly challenging time. Pray for our Church as several of our families have come through a very difficult winter season and this pandemic has compounded the stress in life. That being said, we rejoice that we have a Pastor again! We praise God that, in this challenging time, many new people in our area have connected to our Facebook live stream and we anticipate God doing great and wonderful things in the days to come. Above all, we both offer up praise and prayer for God’s glory to be the end result. Blessings, Pastor James, Crystal, and the whole Southey Baptist family

SBA Ministry of the week for April 12: Carry-The-Kettle Ministries.                       Grant and Nettie Pattimore

Pray for the poster we put up on the Reserve, if any one needs prayer or encouragement to call.  Pray that as we connect with people on the phone that we will be able to direct them to Jesus. Pray for protection from the virus.  Praise the Lord we are in good health.

SBA Church of the week for April 5: Balcarres Baptist.
Greetings from Balcarres! We have suspended our services for now as I’m sure everyone else has. At a time like this it is important for a church body to keep in touch with and pray for one another … remember to pray for the health and safety of all during these unusual days we are in , always remember, no matter how things appear, that God is in control. Please include our assembly in your prayers. God bless!  From the Balcarres Assembly

SBA Church of the week for Mar. 29: Nokomis Baptist Church.                                              Rev. Rick and Lynn Shott.

Every church is coping with the COVID19 directives in their own ways.  This is a test of faith more than anything, and so we look to place our faith in God during this time. Last Sunday, we had a Facebook live sermon. We are trying to keep in touch with everyone on a regular basis. Pray for the peace of God to be seen in our community and especially to be known through our church. If it really needs to be said, pray for health as well, as we are praying for each of you.

SBA Church of the week for Mar. 8: Good Spirit Bible Camp.                                      Executive Director:  Luke Prybylski
Things are going great as the summer rapidly approaches. Online registration is open. Speakers and staff positions are filling up. The winter has even been mild enough that we are able to do some maintenance projects. Things are shaping up this summer to make it another one full of spreading the good news and praising Jesus.

SBA Church of the week for Mar. 1: Heritage Baptist, Yorkton.                                 Pastor Brian (Tammy) Kirsch, Associate Pastor Parker (Amy) Meginbir

We are thankful for the partnerships that we have with various ministries and organizations. Last Sunday afternoon a local congregation needed a baptismal tank to baptize four of their members, what a joy to share ours with them for this important celebration. In the evening Child Evangelism Fellowship used our gym for one of their banquets. We are thankful for the ministry of Club DJ that continues to impact young lives here in our community. We also are looking to partner with CEF for some summer ministry this year. During February some of our ladies have been serving up some hot meals for a group of workers who are building the current Habitat for Humanity Home here in Yorkton. In a couple of weeks we will have a group from Teen Challenge with us to share their important ministry. One of our members has a family member currently in their new woman’s program. Please pray for God’s work in her life and others impacted by addictions. Pray for us as we prepare to host the SBA Spring Meeting on April 3-4. Hope that many of you will be able to attend.

We are excited how God is working in our congregation and look forward to what He will do in and through us this upcoming year. We are thankful for all the prayers that God answered in 2019 and wait with anticipation for answered prayers in 2020. We started the year with a baptism of one of our congregants and we are excited to see how God is working in her life. We continue with pulpit fill as we continue without a full time pastor. Pray that we will grow closer to God as we study His word and spend time in His presence.

SBA Church of the week for Feb. 2, 2020: Balgonie Baptist.                                            Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers

We are very excited for 2020. We are already looking ahead to our Easter Sunday service and are implementing the “Invite Your One” program in the hope that everyone will invite at least one person that morning and turning it into an evangelistic outreach. Last Easter we had 30 invited guests which presented a good opportunity for outreach. We thank God for 25 regular attendees at our Club DJ program.

The SBA Leadership Team would like to thank Esterhazy Baptist Church for hosting our fall meeting. The Leadership Team has begun work on some of the decisions made at that meeting: updating our constitution, and planning our spring gathering.  We look forward to inviting you to the spring gathering as soon as a date and location are finalized. May the light of Christ shine brightly through his church during this Christmas season and always!

SBA Church of the week for Dec. 29: Southey Baptist Church.                                                Interim Pastors:  Ben Kramer, Sean Brewster

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.” 2 Corinthians 1:3,4.  We as a church have definitely felt the Lord’s comfort this fall. The farmers were challenged with getting their crops harvested because of the inclement weather.  Two of our members went home to heaven: A young father who left a loving wife & 4 young sons and an older gentleman.  Please pray with us as we heal and give comfort to these families.  We also need your prayers as we continue to seek a full time pastor.

SBA Church of the week for Dec. 22: Balcarres Baptist Church.                                    Pastor:  Part-time Associate Bill Glasspell

Our church is really thankful for the Regina pulpit supply Ministers, as well as Pastor Bill. Thank you for your continued prayers for us. Merry Christmas!

SBA Church of the week for Dec. 15: Nokomis Baptist Church.                                       Rev. Rick and Lynn Shott

It is advent and as we remember our Lord’s coming so we look to His return. We pray that this is a time to focus more upon Jesus and less on the shopping. The church hosted a painting day that was advent themed. It was more than just acrylic paint as a devotion was integrated by the local artist. This was doubly good as there were more attendees from outside the church than members. Pray for us as we focus on Advent and Christmas at this time. Pray that seeds planted might grow.

SBA Church of the week for Dec. 8: Esterhazy Baptist Church.                                              Pastor  Robert and Karin Moss

Pray for our Family Christmas dinner this afternoon as we invite family & friends to celebrate Christ’s birth.  May the love of Christ be evident in our lives and the Word of Christ be planted in hearts as we interact with people this Christmas season.

SBA Church of the week for Nov. 24: Raymore Baptist Church.                                                                                Rev. Doug and Jocelyn Armbruster

SBA Church of the week for Nov. 17: Heritage Baptist Church, Yorkton.                      Pastor Brian and  Tammy Kirsch, Associate Pastor Parker and Amy Meginbir

We are thankful that God has promised to be with us as we journey through this life (Matt. 28:20). Sometimes the journey is not easy. We have been reminded of this as a number of our people have experienced significant losses in recent months. One family lost their newborn daughter after eight days, others have had family members pass away, still others have lost their good health, more recently one family lost their home and possessions to a fire. Yet amid such hardships God has been present providing comfort and blessings. In just a few weeks we will journey through Advent and another Christmas where we will be reminded of Immanuel—God with us! What a blessing to be reminded of this truth that Jesus came and is coming again. Pray that the Lord would help us to faithfully share this message with those around us.

SBA Church of the week for Nov. 10: Springside Baptist.                                     Pastor Richard and Valerie Kauenhofen, Pastor Mike and Marcie Anderson

Remembrance Day provides the chance for us to pay tribute to those who have and are serving our country.  It can also remind us of the importance of always remembering the greatness, goodness and faithfulness of our God and His Son, Jesus Christ.  Please pray that we will remember and rejoice in our Lord in the midst of life’s situations and that we will shine for Him.

SBA Church of the week for Nov. 3: Faith Baptist, Regina.                                    Pastor Gene and Randa Speer, Pastor Stephen and Rebecca Luff

We praise God for His leading and that Bob and Jody Buck have accepted the call to come serve as Associate Pastor in the New Year!  We had our 2019 RESPOND missions conference in early October with the challenge “Mission Ready?”  We continue to work alongside Discovery Baptist Church and are excited how God is moving.  Continue to pray for us as we raise money for our new building across the street, which will allow us to have more ministries in the neighborhood.

SBA Church of the week for Oct. 27: Ebenezer Baptist.

We are currently still without a pastor. We are going forward with our search and the committee is doing a careful and excellent job. We are so excited that Sunday School has resumed and it is so wonderful to see their smiling and eager faces each Sunday. We are blessed by the people that have filled the pulpit for us each Sunday imparting the Word that God has laid on their hearts. We held our first Concert of Prayer and are looking forward to doing another one soon. Our Youth have experienced the Corn Maze and a Bigger and Better night and are excited about the upcoming activities. God is good and we continue to seek His blessing for harvest weather for the farming community. May His name be glorified in our ministry.

We are also more than grateful to the dedicated volunteers who come each week to make this outreach possible.  We are starting up our small group Bible studies again. We pray that many will join us and learn more of the Word of God.

We also request prayer for the beginnings of an outreach to a nearby native reserve. Pray that God would open doors and hearts to hear the good news of the Gospel.

SBA Church of the week for Oct. 13: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.                                      Pastor Adam and Anita Wiebe

Praise God for His faithfulness this fall! We have had a tremendous response to community involvements and are seeing new people hunger and thirst for the Word of God! Pray that this hunger would be infectious. Pray for our small groups that dive deep into the Word and form deep relationships. Pray for our youth ministry as we search for a part-time youth pastor.

Also give thanks for the ministry that happened throughout the summer as many lives were impacted and God was clearly working. Thanks again and please pray for the campers and staff that they would continue to follow God wholeheartedly.

SBA Church of the week for Sept. 15: Melville Baptist.  Pastor Jonathan and                  Katha Pettinger

On September 8th, Sunday school started and we hosted a Block Party on the church grounds in the afternoon.  It was a beautiful day for it and with the rental of a bouncy castle, as well as games, lots of visiting and good food organized and made by the social committee, fun was had by young and old alike. Please pray as we continue our search for the youth/associate pastoral position we are looking to fill and for good weather for the farmers to get the crop harvested.

We are so thankful for Ben Kramer and Sean Brewster who continue to minister to us on Sundays when they are able. God  is an Awesome God!!!!

SBA Church of the week for Aug. 4: Raymore Baptist.                                                                                         Rev. Doug and Jocelyn Armbruster

The ministry continues to bring new challenges, but with those challenges we are seeing tremendous blessings.  We completed our first year of the Answers In Genesis Sunday school curriculum which has each age group from 2’s and 3’s to adult studying the same topic.  Families have found this to be of great benefit providing wonderful opportunities for family discussion of God’s Word. We celebrated the blessings of the past year’s Sunday school with a Family Picnic on the 23rd.  The weather was chilly but the fellowship was warm as we moved the celebration into our gym.   We will, for the first time, have two Sunday Worship services through the summer to accommodate the increased attendance we have seen this year. Our major prayer request is for our Search Committee as they continue to seek a new Associate pastor.  Also we request prayer for the July 2 outreach as we join with the Gideons to pass out copies of God’s Word and share the Gospel message during the Canada Day celebration.

We are looking forward to VBS with a team from One Hope Canada. They were with us last year and we are so delighted they can lead the program again this year. Pray for us as we continue with the search for a pastor. God is leading and guiding our search committee as they go through the applications.

SBA Church of the week for June 23:  Balgonie Baptist Church,                             Pastor Shawn Cavers

We had our Father’s Day BBQ and our Sunday School wind up last Sunday. Our children’s ministry is a source of joy for the congregation. Summer is always an enjoyable time and even though some ministries slow down during the summer months, there is a desire for regular times of prayer. We intend to continue our Game Changer prayer nights throughout the summer. We are seeing spiritual benefit from prayer and don’t want that to stop. We are asking for rain and are confident God will supply.

Thank you to our teachers who are willing to give of their time to minister to our children.  Pray: For our farmers as seeding is in full swing; For rain as we are very dry; For a full-time pastor to lead our little flock.

SBA Church of the week for May 12: Vintage Church Update.                                     Pastor Luke and Sara Miller; Youth Director – Keegan McKim

On January 27th Vintage after much prayer made the difficult decision to close its doors.  Over the course of 2 ½ years we saw people come to know Jesus, be baptized, and saw baby dedications.  The decision was not easy, but it was a combination of financial sustainability and the departure of our Associate Pastor, who had been trained to take over the church plant, that made the continuation of Vintage unfeasible.  While most of the church has found home at Calvary, please pray for those who are  seeking “what’s next’ for them and their families.

SBA Church of the week for May 5: Balcarres Baptist Church.                                    Pastor – currently vacant

The Balcarres Baptist Church is blessed to have the musicians that are attending.  One also plays at the Long Term Care Homes in Balcarres when services are held there.  Although we have been blessed with being able to find speakers we are still looking for a half time pastor.  Please pray that the church and especially the board would have wisdom in this area.  God bless.

SBA Church of the week for Apr. 28: Nokomis Baptist Church.                                                                             Rev. Rick and Lynn Shott

We pray that our fellow churches had a blessed Easter. Next week is a games day with potluck after church. We had a fundraising dinner at the top of the month that went very well. Pastor Rick has begun at the Bird Sanctuary again. Pray that we will be able to discern the Spirit’s leading for the future.

Pray for the kids to grow in their understanding of following Jesus. Then we switch our focus to camp, and we will be handing out brochures at the school. Pray that God will direct the boys and girls in this. They have already been asking about camp. Also that the reserve will be on time with paying the camp bill. Pray for good contacts with the adults. Thank you for praying,”

Our Club DJ has started for the fall and we are seeing 16 or more kids come each week.  We held a congregational meeting regarding the transition our church is going through. It was a positive gathering as we looked at our past, present and future. It was a good time of reminiscing, self assessment and vision casting for the future. We all came away with an optimistic view of the future of our church.

Wow God is good! It’s been an incredible spring so far with great weather, some good rental groups, fun school groups, a couple family camps, a ton of building upgrades and just a massive blessing to have such a committed Jesus-like staff. Summer is in full swing and we look forward to the ministry that will happen this year at GSBC! Please pray for all the campers and everyone who is involved at camp this summer. Thanks to all of you in the SBA for your support it means so much, God bless!

SBA Church of the week for July 8: Ebenezer Baptist.                                   Pastor Kendall and Amanda Buhler

We rejoice that God has brought many youth (Grade 6-8) from the community to our youth group. Youth has wrapped up for the summer and will begin again in September. DVBS will be held July 16-20. We are very excited about what God has been doing at Balgonie Baptist Church. Our average attendance has grown every month so far this year and there is a sense of joy as we bring the children forward each Sunday before sending them to Children’s Church as that age group has been a major part of our growth.  We are having a time of prayer one Sunday evening each month and we sense that God is touching lives as a result. This fall we are starting a “Club DJ” for our own children and for an outreach once we get it up and running and work out the kinks.

Exciting things are happening at Bay Park Baptist Church! Youth and Small Groups finished for the summer and we are looking forward to VBS for July 9-13. We are renovating our building, updating our constitution, and have opened our church to an African group to use for worship Sunday afternoons. Pray for us as we prepare for summer and for Pastor Adam and family as they attend Triennial and speak out at camp.

Pray for us as Calvary was awarded $24000 dollars for summer grants but turned down the government money due to direct conflict with our statement of faith. Since then we have been used as an example in the House of Commons and are proud that even through the adversity God is using the situation to make people aware of what we believe.  We thank God for those in the congregation and community who have stepped up to fill the void of not having an intern as we are still able to offer 5 weeks of day camps and 2 week long community camps. We also thank God for providing us with the resources to move Austin from 3/4 time to full-time starting July 1st.

We are thankful for the growth we have seen here and for the many different age groups that are represented at Melville Baptist.  Please pray for the various people from our congregation that will be involved in helping out at camp this summer and also for the Mohammed family (refugee family we sponsored) as they have moved to Regina and continue to try to adjust to life in Canada.

Our children in Junior Church have been studying “The Fruits of The Spirit.”  Junior Church will be winding down in June for the summer. We celebrated the life of a member who passed away in March, and celebrated another member’s 99th birthday. Please continue to pray with us as we seek a full-time pastor.

SBA Church of the week for May 20:  Vintage Church.                                                         Pastor Luke,  Sara, Ari, Levy Miller; Pastor Austin and Sarah  Ramstead

SBA Church of the week for May 6:  Nokomis Baptist Church                         Rev. Rick and Lynn Shott

God is good. This year Pastor Rick is in the process of getting a three year contract with the bird sanctuary. It will still be for the spring to fall but is guaranteed for three years instead of reapplying each year. We have held a games afternoon and are preparing another event to follow when we wrap up Sunday School. Please pray for our continued ability to minister more widely into the community.

SBA Church of the week for April 29:  Esterhazy Baptist Church                           Pastor Robert and Karin Moss

We were thankful as well for the opportunity of assisting with pulpit supply during the season they were without a pastor. We were able to get to know each other over that period so the awkward period of getting acquainted with each other was much easier and will be shorter, enabling us to get down to the business of the Kingdom a lot sooner.

Our church is excited for the great impact that Centershot has been again in young lives within the community and surrounding area. A group has formed to lead the tween and teens of the church and area. Pray for clear vision and direction in this ministry. After several years of hiatus, we’ve begun adult Sunday School again with great lessons and ongoing discussion.

SBA Church of the week for March 19: Balgonie Baptist.

We  have seen the church come together these past months as we seek a pastor to help us with transition and healing.  Weekly Bible studies have helped us seek God’s guidance.  We have also begun an evening of prayer each month to pursue God’s guidance and discernment in determining His will.  Please continue to pray for direction for us as we seek a transition pastor.

SBA Church of the week for Mar. 12: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.             Pastor Walter and Grace Foth, Associate Pastor Adam and Anita Wiebe

We praise God for the abundance of His blessings.  We are excited that we continue to see new people in our worship services.  Two men have come forward to follow the Lord in baptism.  Several others, who for a while have attended our church, have committed to church membership.  Small group Bible studies continue to be an essential part of our ministry and so is the Men’s Prayer-breakfast.  The youth has combined junior and senior youth and meets Wednesday evening.  In February they put on a Valentine dinner with several parents – not of the church- attending.  Pray that we would continue to move forward by faith and make a difference in our neighborhood for Jesus.

SBA Church of the week for Mar. 5: Calvary Baptist, Regina.                        Pastor Luke and Sara Miller, Pastor Austin Ramstead

It has been a great winter at Calvary as we have seen God working in our neighbourhood and in the lives of those joining us on Sundays.  Our missional communities helped raise $39,000 for homelessness in the city at Coldest Night of the Year Event and we currently have missionaries from Calvary serving in Mexico for the next 3 weeks.  Pray for the safely and work of those in Mexico, our new initiatives which include delivering sandwiches, meals, and the Gospel to those in the inner city, and the continued ministry of Calvary as it shares the Gospel with the neighbourhood and city.

We are only 5 months old but we are seeing an impact that is being made in the lives of people attending either our missional communities, Sunday gatherings, or other events. Vintage’s College and Career group has been steadily growing since we started and we are exited to see people stepping into leadership roles in the areas of music, youth, audio/video and church operations. Our missional communities have been growing and it has been fun to see all the ideas for missions coming out of the groups.  Please pray for us as we continue to forge ahead with plans to impact the community and neighbourhood with the message of the Gospel.

SBA Church of the week of Nov. 20: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.

Pastor Walter and Grace Foth, Associate Pastor Adam and Anita Wiebe

We are thankful for God’s work amongst us.  Our fall ministries got off to a great start – youth, Sunday School, small groups and others.  It began with a baptismal service and 5 new members received into church membership.  The youth started off with a bbq with good attendance.  On October 28 we had a fall carnival for the community to which we specifically invited children who had attended our VBS and their parents.  We had 80 children and adults who stayed for the puppet show and devotional time.  Others just stopped by.  At the moment we have a good number attending a class  preparing for baptism and church membership.  Once a month the men meet for a prayer breakfast which is attended by 16 – 20 men.  Ladies will have their annual Christmas Salad Supper on November 28 which is an outreach to family and friends.  Please pray for us, as we continue to minister in our community and beyond.

SBA Church of the week of Nov. 13: Calvary Baptist, Regina.

Pastor Luke and Sara Miller, Pastor Austin Ramstead

We are truly thankful for the new families that are attending Calvary and have decided to make it their home!  We are thankful that we were able to bring on Pastor Austin Ramstead as our 1/2 time pastor.  Our Church plant “Vintage”  has been received well and is bringing in new people, many who have never heard the gospel before.  Praise God!  Missional groups will be starting this month and will be combined with Vintage.  We give God all the Glory and honor for all he has done and is still doing at Calvary and Vintage.  Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.

SBA Church of the week of Nov. 6: Melville Baptist Church.

We’re thankful for people who invested time late this summer to clean-up, paint and create more space to help deal with the “problem” of too many kids and not enough Sunday School rooms. Please pray for the Operation Christmas Child team in Melville that is hoping to ship one thousand shoeboxes from our community. Please pray for the safe arrival of the Syrian family that our church is sponsoring.

Pray also with us as we seek God’s will for our church.

SBA Church of the week of Oct. 23: Balcarres Baptist Church.

We are thoroughly enjoying and learning a lot through our two associate Pastors.  During the summer, we had 6 kids attend Good Spirit Camp.  We ran a great 5 Day Club and had many kids attended who do not normally come to our church.  Some made decisions for Christ!  Help us pray for church growth, more consistency in church attendance,  and more teachers for the Sunday School so we can divide the age groups (good problem to have).

SBA Church of the week of Oct 16: Nokomis Baptist Church.

Pastor Rick and Lynn Shott

Life is good as we are beginning a new season of Sunday School with adult and youth classes.  Pastor Rick will continue to work at the bird sanctuary until the end of November.  Pray for us as we have our board meeting this afternoon.  We thank you all for your prayers.

SBA Church of the week of Oct. 9: Vintage Church, Regina.

Pastors Luke (Sara) Miller, Austin Ramstead

On September 11th after over a year of praying and planning about what a church plant would look like for both Calvary Baptist and the SBA we saw the opening of Vintage Church. Our soft opening brought about 40 people together from all walks of life for an evening of music, teaching, and sharing where God is calling us.   Pray for our leadership team: Luke Miller, Sara Miller, Ken Solberg, Seth Tyler, & Austin Ramstead as move ahead with God’s plan to serve our neighbourhood, share the Gospel, and build His kingdom.  Many of the people walking in the doors do not know God, are asking questions about him for the first time, or have not been active in a church.  Please pray for us as we minister to this new community and the neighborhood around it.

SBA Church of the week of Oct 2: Esterhazy Baptist Church.

Have a blessed Sunday in the Lord!
