Church of the Week

Nokomis Baptist Church:  April 26-May 2, 2026

Pastor Rick (Lynn) Shott

We hope spring will come one day, but our true hope is that our Lord Jesus rose from the grave. We continue to minister in Nokomis and the community. Our youth group continues to meet. We have started a twice weekly thrift store in the basement. It has increased our contacts in the community in a few ways. Pray that we will see more of God’s hand at work and that we continue to be faithful in our ministry.

SBA Leadership Team: April 19-25, 2026

As we have celebrated Easter and look ahead to remembering the significance of Pentecost, let us live in union with Christ, empowered by the Spirit, to the glory of the Father. It was an encouraging gathering at our spring meeting where we had opportunity to learn, discuss, and fellowship together! Pray for churches that are searching for pastors or navigating a time of transition. Please lift up our team as we review the feedback gained through discussion groups and seek to prayerfully discern shared priorities and future direction for our association as God leads.

Heritage Baptist Church: March 29-April 4, 2026

Pastor Brian (Tammy) Kirsch, Associate Pastor Liam (Pam) Punzalan

On this Palm Sunday we enter into the joyful praise for King Jesus. We rejoice in the evidence of His kingdom’s growth today as we celebrate the witness of two young men being baptized in our worship service. Pray that our people would have a heart to serve the Lord in various key roles that we are seeking to fill ahead of our annual meeting that will be held at the end of May. Pray as well as our church enters a time of transition for our senior pastor role as Pastor Brian will be leaving that position after 18 years of service at HBC. Pray that the true message of Easter will impact lives in our community through our witness.

We have had some interesting visitors over the last few months: a couple from Newfoundland was visiting their family for the summer as their grandson has been very ill. They dropped in for the service when they could, sometimes bringing their grandchildren with them. And there have been others. Pray that we will continue to be an outreach.
