SBA Church of the Week for Dec. 31. Balgonie Baptist.
Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers
As 2023 draws to a close and we stand on the threshold of a new year, we cannot know what is ahead but we can know God will be there before us and will guide us with His eye; and His perspective is the one we need to see. We are truly grateful at how God has sustained us this past year. We have seen growth in people’s lives and increase in our children’s ministry and youth. God has truly been good to us and we expect good things from Him in 2024.
SBA Church of the Week for Dec. 24. Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon.
Pastor Jerry and Shirley Richards
As the Church on the Corner of Ave P North, and 33rd Street West in Saskatoon, we have enjoyed miraculous growth, both numerically and spiritually. God is good, and all of the praise and glory belong to Him. We have also, during this time had to say au revoir to two dear brothers in the faith who have gone on before us. So please pray with us for God’s healing balm to bless and rest on the families who have lost loved ones. This evening we will be celebrating with a candlelight service. Please pray for God to give us maximum impact. Greet all of the Saints for us and have a blessed Christmas.

We had a very successful VBS attended by about 50 kids. We are encouraged to see that many of our “graduates” from previous years come back to volunteer in drama and assisting the teachers. August 27, we had some fellows from Teen Challenge. It was a real highlight as one was a local man from Regina and so we had 25 or more visitors that morning. They shared powerful testimonies of God’s ability to deliver people from destructive addictions and restore what Satan has stolen from them. We look forward to our fall “Kick Off Sunday” September 24. Please pray for our visitors to have receptive hearts and that God would come in His tangible presence to draw people to Himself.

We are very thankful for the Lord’s work in our church. In recent months we have seen some former members return, a couple of new families coming, and we now have the highest consistent number of children in our services that we have had for many years. There are more than seven non-Western countries of origin represented in our church. The change over the last year has been difficult to absorb for some, and we are grieving some of the families who still have not returned since our previous pastors departed. We are still looking for a new permanent pastor. However, we are seeing some real signs of health and are thankful for the ways that God has blessed our church.

Having been installed as permanent pastor, I am looking forward to God moving in our midst and am optimistic for the future.

Greetings, like every other church we have been settling into new routines for COVID19. While there are some serious differences in the service, we are able to worship the Lord well. Pray that this will not be interrupted again. God made us for community. One of the lessons we are learning today is that virtual community is a pale shadow of an incarnate community. With our size and a little planning, our services have been running since the end of June. We are also maintaining an online presence as well. Pray for wisdom as we look to improve our discipleship. Pray for Pastor Rick as well as he does the Legion service on Remembrance day.

God was great again this year and He will always remain undefeated.

We are grateful to those who put the time and effort into our Vacation Bible School again this year. We were able to physically distance and meet in cluster groups and still effectively teach the word of God. We believe lives were eternally changed. Our renovation are progressing with the exterior of the church finished and the interior just about there. We will have a dedication (lighting) service September 13. Even though summer is over there is excitement about beginning our all programs again.
SBA Church of the week, Aug. 30: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon. Pastor Adam and Anita Wiebe, Pastor Brayden and Angel Martens
Praise God for His continued faithfulness and guidance during such strange times. So far, we have felt God direct us to keep our services online; however we have had several youth and men’s ministry meetings in the last few months. We are also encouraging our church families to invite others over to their houses to join together for church in this time when restrictions make gathering in the church building for services difficult. We appreciate prayers for God’s directions in all these matters.
SBA Church of the week, Aug. 23: Carry-The-Kettle Ministries Grant and Nettie Pattimore
Things are moving very slowly on the reserve. There is much fear there. They still have the barricade up and they keep track of who comes onto the reserve. They plan to reopen the school on Sept. 8th, with split classes, meaning one group in the morning, the other group in the afternoon. Pray that we would be able to have some spiritual conversations with people, especially those who are believers, and assure them that we trust in the Lord, even in this pandemic. Pray that God’s will be done, in how we can minister to the boys and girls this fall. Thank you for your prayers.

Please pray for those who have been isolated at home during this time – that we would continue to connect and be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus to them.
SBA Church of the week for July 26: GOOD SPIRIT BIBLE CAMP Executive Director: Luke Prybylski
All things considered God has again blessed camp greatly this summer. We are currently in the middle of running day camps and so far they have been going fabulously, especially considering we didn’t know if we’d be able to do any program this summer. Last but not least we have been gifted incredible staff and volunteers who are making this summer even better.
SBA Church of the week for July 19: Balcarres Baptist.
Greetings from Balcarres Baptist Church. We are living in interesting and sometimes stressful times, obvious, I am sure to all! This congregation is quite small and many of our members are elderly. Please make our concerning situation part of your prayers! May God bless you all. Doug Stobbs, moderator.

It is a new day. This week will be our third Sunday worshiping together. There are still some members concerned about returning, so we are posting the service online as well. We have set out a plan to follow provincial guidelines. Generally, it is going smoothly. There are always issues to work out and these seem to be minor. Pray for us as we continue to meet and supplement our ministry on youtube. Pray that we are able to reach out in new ways during this difficult time.
SBA Church of the week for July 5: Esterhazy Baptist. Pastor Robert and Karin Moss
We have started a web page (www.esterhazybaptistchurch.org) and are using the mail, email, podcasts and elder care groups to keep in touch as a congregation. Pray that with all the changes we will still remain students of what God would have us learn and do through this time.

COVID-19 has been a blessing in that we are reaching more people online! We are studying mercy and sacrifice in Romans this month. Although the children’s programs were cancelled, we are planning for VBS and looking at different options for it. With only a few workers on site at a time, even our exterior building project is proceeding. Please pray for the Lord’s guidance and that we will always be ready to give hope in our community.
SBA Church of the Week for May 10: Bay Park Baptist, Saskatoon. Pastor Adam and Anita Wiebe
Blessings in the Lord from Bay Park Baptist Church! We are adapting to the unique circumstances by streaming our services through our Facebook page, and praise God that He is reaching more people than would have physically fit into our building! God works in mysterious ways! However, there are still significant challenges during this time, particularly for those who have experienced loss and must grieve differently. Pray for several families with newborns who must stay in isolation as well. While we are thankful for online pictures, we would much rather be with these families during these times in their lives!
SBA Church of the Week for May 3: Calvary Baptist, Regina. Pastor Luke Miller, Sara, Ari and Levy, Keegan McKim – Youth Director
Pray for us as we continue our online services. We have used this opportunity to interview missionaries from around the world and gain a global perspective for what God is doing during COVID-19. April 19 was slated to be the installation service celebration for our new pastoral couple, James and Crystal Graham. To say that life has thrown us a curve ball would be a global understatement. Pray for Pastor James and Crystal as they seek to make connection and build community as our new Pastoral couple in a truly challenging time. Pray for our Church as several of our families have come through a very difficult winter season and this pandemic has compounded the stress in life. That being said, we rejoice that we have a Pastor again! We praise God that, in this challenging time, many new people in our area have connected to our Facebook live stream and we anticipate God doing great and wonderful things in the days to come. Above all, we both offer up praise and prayer for God’s glory to be the end result. Blessings, Pastor James, Crystal, and the whole Southey Baptist family

Please include our assembly in your prayers. God bless! From the Balcarres Assembly

Every church is coping with the COVID19 directives in their own ways. This is a test of faith more than anything, and so we look to place our faith in God during this time. Last Sunday, we had a Facebook live sermon. We are trying to keep in touch with everyone on a regular basis. Things are going great as the summer rapidly approaches. Online registration is open. Speakers and staff positions are filling up. SBA Church of the week for Mar. 1: Heritage Baptist, Yorkton. Pastor Brian (Tammy) Kirsch, Associate Pastor Parker (Amy) Meginbir
We are thankful for the partnerships that we have with various ministries and organizations. Last Sunday afternoon a local congregation needed a baptismal tank to baptize four of their members, what a joy to share ours with them for this important celebration. In the evening Child Evangelism Fellowship used our gym for one of their banquets. We are thankful for the ministry of Club DJ that continues to impact young lives here in our community. We also are looking to partner with CEF for some summer ministry this year. During February some of our ladies have been serving up some hot meals for a group of workers who are building the current Habitat for Humanity Home here in Yorkton. In a couple of weeks we will have a group from Teen Challenge with us to share their important ministry. One of our members has a family member currently in their new woman’s program. Pray that we will grow closer to God as we study His word and spend time in His presence.
SBA Church of the week for Feb. 2, 2020: Balgonie Baptist. Pastor Shawn and Val Cavers
We are very excited for 2020. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.” 2 Corinthians 1:3,4. We as a church have definitely felt the Lord’s comfort this fall. The farmers were challenged with getting their crops harvested because of the inclement weather. Two of our members went home to heaven: A young father who left a loving wife & 4 young sons and an older gentleman. Please pray with us as we heal and give comfort to these families. We also need your prayers as we continue to seek a full time pastor.

SBA Church of the week for Dec. 15: Nokomis Baptist Church. Rev. Rick and Lynn Shott
It is advent and as we remember our Lord’s coming so we look to His return. We pray that this is a time to focus more upon Jesus and less on the shopping. The church hosted a painting day that was advent themed. It was more than just acrylic paint as a devotion was integrated by the local artist. This was doubly good as there were more attendees from outside the church than members. Pray for us as we focus on Advent and Christmas at this time. Pray that seeds planted might grow.

SBA Church of the week for Nov. 17: Heritage Baptist Church, Yorkton. Pastor Brian and Tammy Kirsch, Associate Pastor Parker and Amy Meginbir
We are thankful that God has promised to be with us as we journey through this life (Matt. 28:20). Sometimes the journey is not easy. We have been reminded of this as a number of our people have experienced significant losses in recent months. One family lost their newborn daughter after eight days, others have had family members pass away, still others have lost their good health, more recently one family lost their home and possessions to a fire. Yet amid such hardships God has been present providing comfort and blessings. In just a few weeks we will journey through Advent and another Christmas where we will be reminded of Immanuel—God with us! What a blessing to be reminded of this truth that Jesus came and is coming again. Pray that the Lord would help us to faithfully share this message with those around us.
SBA Church of the week for Nov. 10: Springside Baptist. Pastor Richard and Valerie Kauenhofen, Pastor Mike and Marcie Anderson
Remembrance Day provides the chance for us to pay tribute to those who have and are serving our country. It can also remind us of the importance of always remembering the greatness, goodness and faithfulness of our God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Please pray that we will remember and rejoice in our Lord in the midst of life’s situations and that we will shine for Him.
SBA Church of the week for Nov. 3: Faith Baptist, Regina. Pastor Gene and Randa Speer, Pastor Stephen and Rebecca Luff
We praise God for His leading and that Bob and Jody Buck have accepted the call to come serve as Associate Pastor in the New Year! Continue to pray for us as we raise money for our new building across the street, which will allow us to have more ministries in the neighborhood.
SBA Church of the week for Oct. 27: Ebenezer Baptist.
We are currently still without a pastor. We are going forward with our search and the committee is doing a careful and excellent job. We are so excited that Sunday School has resumed and it is so wonderful to see their smiling and eager faces each Sunday. We are blessed by the people that have filled the pulpit for us each Sunday imparting the Word that God has laid on their hearts. We held our first Concert of Prayer and are looking forward to doing another one soon. Our Youth have experienced the Corn Maze and a Bigger and Better night and are excited about the upcoming activities. God is good and we continue to seek His blessing for harvest weather for the farming community. May His name be glorified in our ministry.

We give God praise for 23 children that are coming out to Club DJ every Tuesday evening. We are also more than grateful to the dedicated volunteers who come each week to make this outreach possible. SBA Church of the week for Sept. 29: Calvary Baptist, Regina. Pastor Luke and Sara Miller, Keegan McKim – Director of Youth; Brett Austring – Director of Community Life/Music

SBA Church of the week for July 7: Faith Baptist, Regina. Pastor Gene and Randa Speer, Pastor Stephen and Rebecca Luff
The ministry continues to bring new challenges, but with those challenges we are seeing tremendous blessings. We completed our first year of the Answers In Genesis Sunday school curriculum which has each age group from 2’s and 3’s to adult studying the same topic. Families have found this to be of great benefit providing wonderful opportunities for family discussion of God’s Word. We celebrated the blessings of the past year’s Sunday school with a Family Picnic on the 23rd. The weather was chilly but the fellowship was warm as we moved the celebration into our gym. We will, for the first time, have two Sunday Worship services through the summer to accommodate the increased attendance we have seen this year. Our major prayer request is for our Search Committee as they continue to seek a new Associate pastor. Also we request prayer for the July 2 outreach as we join with the Gideons to pass out copies of God’s Word and share the Gospel message during the Canada Day celebration.

Summer is always an enjoyable time and even though some ministries slow down during the summer months, there is a desire for regular times of prayer. We intend to continue our Game Changer prayer nights throughout the summer. We are seeing spiritual benefit from prayer and don’t want that to stop. We are asking for rain and are confident God will supply.

SBA Church of the week for May 12: Vintage Church Update. Pastor Luke and Sara Miller; Youth Director – Keegan McKim
On January 27th Vintage after much prayer made the difficult decision to close its doors. Over the course of 2 ½ years we saw people come to know Jesus, be baptized, and saw baby dedications. The decision was not easy, but it was a combination of financial sustainability and the departure of our Associate Pastor, who had been trained to take over the church plant, that made the continuation of Vintage unfeasible. While most of the church has found home at Calvary, please pray for those who are seeking “what’s next’ for them and their families.

Since then we have been used as an example in the House of Commons and are proud that even through the adversity God is using the situation to make people aware of what we believe. We thank God for those in the congregation and community who have stepped up to fill the void of not having an intern as we are still able to offer 5 weeks of day camps and 2 week long community camps. We are thankful for God’s work amongst us. Our fall ministries got off to a great start – youth, Sunday School, small groups and others. It began with a baptismal service and 5 new members received into church membership. The youth started off with a bbq with good attendance. On October 28 we had a fall carnival for the community to which we specifically invited children who had attended our VBS and their parents. We had 80 children and adults who stayed for the puppet show and devotional time. Others just stopped by. At the moment we have a good number attending a class preparing for baptism and church membership. Once a month the men meet for a prayer breakfast which is attended by 16 – 20 men. Ladies will have their annual Christmas Salad Supper on November 28 which is an outreach to family and friends. Please pray for us, as we continue to minister in our community and beyond.

We ran a great 5 Day Club and had many kids attended who do not normally come to our church. Some made decisions for Christ! Help us pray for church growth, more consistency in church attendance, and more teachers for the Sunday School so we can divide the age groups (good problem to have).

Pray for our leadership team: Luke Miller, Sara Miller, Ken Solberg, Seth Tyler, & Austin Ramstead as move ahead with God’s plan to serve our neighbourhood, share the Gospel, and build His kingdom.
